7 great activities to experience in Costa Rica
Costa Rica, officially the Republic of Costa Rica, is a country in Central America, bordering Nicaragua in the north, Panamá in the south and southeast, the Pacific in the west and south, the Caribbean Sea in the east. Here are a series of great travel experiences for travelers in this country.
Visiting ecological forests
You can go through the provinces of Guanacaste and Alajuela in the north of Costa Rica, walk through the emerald green lake forest and watch birds.
Continuing on the road to Los Teñideros, this is where you will see two clear rivers combining with each other to create a brilliant blue-colored flow that the locals call the river of heaven.
Eating special dishes
Along the roads along the roads leading to tourist sites, there are many appetizers, traditional dishes, pasta, rice. Two of the most popular dishes are Casados and Gallo Pinto. Casados is a white rice dish with meat, beans, and fried bananas, while Gallo pinto is a rice dish with little beans, which are two typical national dishes.
Watching wild animals
Costa Rica is a place full of wildlife, but the Osa Peninsula is one of the most bio-diverse places in the world.
Founded in 1975, it covers an area of 164 square miles and acts as a home for more than 450 species of birds, 140 mammals, and hundreds of different plants. Popular animals you will see include macaws, white capuchin monkeys, tapirs. Wild cats are difficult to meet but you can spot the traces they leave.
Walking across suspension bridges
A great way to traverse the forest on cloud Monteverde is through a network of suspension bridges. There’s a total of 6 bridges (the longest bridge is 300m). Time to go through all these bridges can take up to 2 hours.
Exploring historical sites
San José was the capital of Costa Rica during the Spanish colonial period. Therefore, nowadays in Cartago, you will find many important buildings and other historical monuments, some of which are carefully preserved and restored.
The beach town of Puntarenas is one of the best places for water activities like surfing. It is world famous for its waves, attracting surfers from all over the world to experience them. Just walk through town, you'll find some shops offering surf equipment with local guides.
Costa Rica has more than 200 volcanoes formed. Among them, there are 6 active volcanoes and one of the most interesting places to visit is Arenal, located in Alajuela province. It is known as one of the most active volcanoes in the world, although it now seems to be resting - a common state of active volcanoes.
