Reasons to go outside more frequently

Immerse yourself in nature can make us happier, and may be the solution to your stress problems.

Every day we usually go to work in the office or school, then we come back home, have dinner, sit down and watch TV, and rest for the next day. Thus, most of our time is spent mainly in the indoor environment, which in practice is not good for health.

Psychologists and health researchers have proven that being in harmony with nature is essential to human life. However, this does not mean you have to get to majestic mountains and forests, or go to the sea. You can find just a simple place such as a green road or a park.


So, why should we spend more time outdoors? Here are some of the most important reasons for you to start going outside and enjoy the nature:

According to a study from the University of Michigan, natural walking groups are associated with increased mental health and positive attitudes, as well as significantly lowered levels of depression and anxiety or stress. If you are having a particularly difficult day, ask a friend or lover to take a walk in order to have a better mood after work.

Going jogging is different from running on a treadmill, which makes you feel happy quickly. A study from the University of Glasgow has proved that pedestrians, cyclists, or runners in nature are at lower risk of mental health-related illnesses than those who workout in their home.

If you want to have a healthy weekend, you should consider a trip to the countryside. According to a study published in the journal Psychological Science, the interaction with nature provides your brain the ability to ignore too much stimulation every day, which has the effect of bringing concentration to your brain.

4. To enhance immunity

There is an interesting fact that the best medicine for your health is not in your medicine cabinet, it lies in the nature. Researchers at Nippon Tokyo School of Medicine, Japan have found out that women who spent 6 hours in the forest during the two days had increased anti-tumor virus and white blood cells. And that increase even continued for the next seven days.


A solution for those who can’t go out more often:

Of course, not everyone can have the time to spend hours relaxing on the lawn. Fortunately, you can still reap some benefits to promote the brain without leaving your home.

According to a study in the Korean journal Radiology, hanging pictures of scenic beauty in your room also help the your brain work better. So, putting some outdoor nature photos at your desk or setting them as your computer screen background will make you feel more wonderful.
