Vegan leather bag - the first birthday gift of Duchess Meghan Markle
On her first birthday as a royal member on August 4, Duchess Meghan Markle has received a special birthday gift: a stylish bag from PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals). And this is no surprise. Immediately after becoming the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle quickly affirmed the influence of a "new fashion icon" of British Royal Family. All of her dresses and style always show up everywhere on countless pages whenever she appears.

While fans were looking forward to the generous gift of Prince Harry for his lady, PETA quickly added to Meghan's fashion collection a vegan leather bag from Alexandra K.
“This bag suits Meghan Markle's fashion sensibility and animal-friendly attitudes to a T,” said PETA Director Elisa Allen. The bag that PETA chose for Meghan Markle's birthday is made of freedom leather, which is super durable and eco-friendly.
Elisa Allen also shared that PETA wanted to send a message about animal-friendly fashion to the UK royal family as well as their fans through this gift. The organization expects people to adopt well-orientated brands like Alexandra K and stay away from the cruel fashion that is made of animal skins.
"PETA hopes the gift will encourage the royal family and its fans alike to embrace compassionate brands like Alexandra K and to steer clear of cruelly obtained animal skins," she said.

In 2015, Meghan told Best Health that she was trying to eat vegan foods on weekdays and would allow herself to experience more during the weekend. The American actress added that this was a balance that she practiced in her own way, and she did not want to squeeze herself in a harsh regime.
"But at the same time, it's all about balance. Because I work out the way I do, I don't ever want to feel deprived. I feel that the second you do that is when you start to binge on things. It's not a diet; it's lifestyle eating," said Markle.

This is not the first PETA gift to send to royalty and influential people in the UK, especially to convey the message of ethical and harmless fashion. Previously, the Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton also received a high-end vegan woolen jacket on her birthday. PETA has also donated British Prime Minister Theresa May some imitation leather shoes.
