Off-White’s Virgil Abloh is expected to transform Louis Vuitton
Designer Virgil Abloh, founder of the high street fashion line Off-White, has recently been named the Creative Director of the longtime luxury Louis Vuitton. He was honored to be the first African-American to rule in the history of the famous brand, as well as one of a few black designers that have the opportunity to earn success with the French fashion label.

"I feel elated," Virgil Abloh answered on the phone last Sunday. He also added that he and his family would move to Paris to take on the job at the top company LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton. "This opportunity to think through what the next chapter of design and luxury will mean at the pinnacle of luxury was always a goal in my wildest dreams. And to show a younger generation that there is no one in this kind of position has the look of being a fantastically modern spirit in which to start," said Abloh.
The transition has been rumored in recent months. The main reason is part of the LVMH’s men’s fashion revamp, which took place in January following the departure of predecessor Kim Jones. Last week, Kim Jones was officially appointed to be the Creative Director of Dior's men's fashion, replacing Kris van Assche.

Thus, the fact that this French luxury brand names Abloh their new Creative Director also reflects the recent situation of the fashion market, which is growing strong on demand for street fashion. This is also a way to consolidate the global retail price of premium products by up to $ 325 billion, according to research by Bain & Company.
According to Michael Burke, CEO of Louis Vuitton, Virgil Abloh really broke the standards between the classic of the brand and modern beats of the new era. The two had a meeting 12 years ago when Abloh and his friend Kanye West were practicing in Fendi, where Michael also served as Chairman and then CEO.
Not officially trained in fashion, but Abloh has pioneered and led the fashion brand Off-White to become one of the most outstanding streetwear names of the fashion world. With unique style and creative thinking, Virgil Abloh and Off-White have been recognized by the LVMH fashion group with an honorable award for young designers in 2015.

Abloh is also honored to have the opportunity to work with such big names as Nike, Jimmy Choo, Moncler and Ikea in an upcoming project. Most recently, he co-starred with contemporary artist Takashi Murakami to create an impressive visual show at the Gagosian Gallery in London.
