Thanos or Cable? What is the most impressive role of Josh Brolin
These two characters represent very different values; moreover, Josh Brolin's performances for both films also produce distinct results and are worthy of comparison.
Thanos in "Avengers: Infinity War" is the main character and has more "land" to star
The motives and goals of Thanos and Cable are quite the opposite. Mad Titan travels all over the universe to find six infinity stones, aiming to complete his life-long goal and even he was willing to sacrifice everything for that ideal. The most typical example is the journey to the planet Vormir to search for the Soul Stone that Thanos was forced to sacrifice his daughter Gamora - whom he loved most, to oppose the soul stone.
Apparently, Thanos was praised not only for his great ideas but also for his complex psychological evolution and intense internal struggles. But after all, his ideal is still the top priority and it was the ideal that helped him defeat Avengers.
Meanwhile, what Cable was trying to achieve is ultimately only for themselves and their families. Nathan Summers traveled to the past to stop the death of his wife and daughter by assassinating Firefist when he was just a 14-year-old boy.
Cable was not spent much time developing
“Deadpool 2” had to admit that they did not spend much time on the Cable character, simply because he was not a central character. In fact, the story of Nathan Summers is reported to be too sketchy compared to the original.
On the other hand, Thanos "dominated" most of “Avengers: Infinity War”, more than Captain America, Black Panther, Black Widow, Scarlet Witch and Vision combined. In addition, filmmakers have prepared many years for the launch of Thanos when the character appeared in the MCU for the first time in 2012.
The majority of the audience was more sympathetic to Thanos
In general, both characters received countless praise from viewers. Although many viewers are still unfamiliar with Thanon's creation in “Avengers: Infinity War” with pink skin and a bareheaded head, they all recognize it as one of the "top" villains of the Marvel family in particular and the line of superhero films in general.
Cable also received a lot of positive feedback from the movie fans after “Deadpool 2”. Nathan Summers has shown a good image of a serious young man next to the talkative "Pool". Next to it is the cool look of modern hair, strong muscles and modern weapons.
Conclusion: Thanos wins
It is difficult to distinguish between Thanos and Cable that truly represent noble ideals or evil intentions. But one thing is certain that Josh Brolin has done a great job, especially with the role of Thanos.
