Mesmerizing characters from 'The Nutcracker and Four Realms'
CLARA STAHLBAUM (MACKENZIE FOY) – THE BELLE OF ANOTHER WORLD
If Belle in "Beauty and the Beast" is more passionate about books than gossiping in that small town, Clara in "The Nutcracker and Four Realms" is her reflection in another world.
Unlike other girls, Clara only has a special curiosity for repairing things. She is simply not interested in social activities, and that characteristic has bent her relationship with her father. After receiving the gift from her late mother, Clara embarks on an exciting adventure journey - a virtual journey that helps her understand more about herself.
Following her footsteps, viewers could travel through four magic lands: Land of Snowflakes, Land of Flowers, Land of Sweets and The Fourth Realm to discover the mysterious gift left by Clara's mother. On this journey, she meets Phillip the Nutcracker. Together, they fight against Mother Ginger to bring peace to the land as well as find the key to open the mysterious gift box from Clara's mother.
CAPTAIN PHILLIP HOFFMAN (JAYDEN FOWORA-KNIGHT) – THE LONELY SOLDIER
As one of the most important characters in the movie, Phillip the Nutcracker is actually Captain Phillip Hoffman hiding and taking on an important mission. Although this young man has no one by his side except his horse Jingles, Phillip is devoted to his job and never complains about his loneliness.
When Clara appears and faces such unlikely mission, Phillip is determined to give her one hand. The friendship between these two characters is indeed a highlight of the film.
DROSSELMEYER (MORGAN FREEMAN) – THE WISE GODFATHER
As Clara's godfather, Drosselmeyer is a wise and somewhat mysterious man. His hobbies are traveling to different parts of the world, collecting rare items that are difficult to find and scientifically researching.
Drosselmeyer loves Clara because she is extremely like her mother Marie - whom he had raised since she was an abandoned orphan. Marie relied on Drosselmeyer to help Clara in her journey to the Four Realms, and it is a task that he would do his best to fulfill.
THE SUGAR PLUM FAIRY (KEIRA KNIGHTLEY) – THE EMBODIMENT OF FEMININITY
The Sugar Plum Fairy is the loved regent of the Land of Sweets. Elegant and sweet, Sugar Plum often appears in a glittering dress.
She warmly welcomes Clara to the Four Realms and even declares that Clara a guest of honor at a large beauty contest. Marie, Clara's mother, was also a close friends of Sugar Plum, so for her, Clara is like a family member.
MOTHER GINGER (HELEN MIRREN) – THE RESENTMENT OF BEING LEFT BEHIND
Mother Ginger is the regent of the Land of Amusements, which was once delightful land. However, heated argument broke out among the leaders of the Realms, making this place a deserted land. Mother Ginger's henchman is The Mouse King, who owns a mouse army of 60,000 members.
With ginger hair, cracked lines on her face and hateful eyes, Mother Ginger is a huge fear of the Four Realms.
BALLERINA PRINCESS (MISTY COPELAND) – THE X FACTOR
As a ballet star invited to perform for Clara, Ballerina Princess tells a wonderful story the flourishing and decaying of the Four Realms through her dance. It can be said that the most expected performance of this live-action is this 20-minute ballet. Is it truly flawless like Tchaikovsky' original "The Nutcracker"?
According to Variety, the whole dance will be performed by famous ballet dancer Misty Copeland. Misty Copeland is the first African-American to become a main dancer of American Ballet Theatre. She was even named one of the 100 most influential people in the world by Time magazine in 2015.
