EDM superstar Avicii found dead at age 28

Swedish producer and DJ Avicii, real name Tim Bergling, has just been found dead on April 20th at age 28 in Muscat, Oman.

The news was confirmed by his media representative Diana Baron:

“It is with profound sorrow that we announce the loss of Tim Bergling, also known as Avicii,” the statement read. “He was found dead in Muscat, Oman this Friday afternoon local time, April 20th. The family is devastated and we ask everyone to please respect their need for privacy in this difficult time. No further statements will be given.”

Avicii, born in 1989, in Stockholm, Sweden - is one of the most famous DJs in the world. In 2011, Avicii released "Levels". The song quickly reached the Top 10 in a series of countries including Britain, Sweden, Germany, Belgium, Italy, Finland... bringing his name to the world for the first time.

In 2012, the collaboration with David Guetta, "Sunshine" has brought Avicii a Grammy nomination for Best Dance Recording. Avicii released his debut album "True" in 2013 and received positive reviews from critics. The album topped the charts in more than 15 countries and occupied the highest position in Australia, Sweden, Denmark and the United States.

The EDM superstar was ranked third on DJ Mag in 2012 and 2013, twice nominated for a Grammy (one for "Sunshine" and one for "Levels"). Some of the most famous hits of the 28-year-old DJ are  "I Could Be the One", "Wake Me Up", "You Make Me", "X You", "Hey Brother", "Addicted to You", "The Days", "The Nights", "Levels", "Waiting for Love", "Without You" and "Lonely Together".

In 2013, the DJ was hospitalized in Brisbane, Australia for acute pancreatitis. In 2014, Avicii had to cancel his performance at the world's premier electronic Ultra Music Festival in Miami and other shows to recover from having his gallbladder and appendix removed. In 2016, he decided to stop touring due to health reasons.

“Two weeks ago, I took the time to drive across the U.S. with my friends and team, to just look and see and think about things in a new way,” said the DJ on his website in 2016. “It really helped me realise that I needed to make the change that I’d been struggling with for a while.”

In mid-2017, Avicii returned with new album “EP”, including of only 6 songs. This music production made his fans around the world hope to have the opportunity to see him appear on the stage again, at some music festival. However, as we already know, the poor talented DJ did not make it.

The whole showbiz has expressed shock and mourn for Avicii after the tragic news, including Calvin Harris, Madonna, Goat Lord, Charlie Puth, Liam Payne, Marshmello, DJ Snake, Dua Lipa, Kygo and David Guetta.
