3 elements to help “Widows” succeed

With score of 91% on the Rotten Tomatoes, "Widows" is currently one of the brightest candidates for the upcoming Oscars.

The film promises to attract viewers by the attractive and dramatic script with the participation of the hit cast, under the direction of Steve McQueen.

A dramatic scenario


"Widows" is based on the British television series of the same name in 1983-1985 with many nominations. The story revolves around a gang of four members: Harry Rawlings (Liam Neeson), Carlos Pirelli (Manuel Garcia-Rulfo), Florek Gunner (Jon Bernthal) and Jimmy Nunn (Coburn Goss). After an unsuccessful mission, they were killed by police.

Wives begin to be threatened by "trading partners" to reclaim huge amounts of money. Not willing to surrender, the four widows Veronica Rawlings (Viola Davis), Linda Parelli (Michelle Rodriguez), Alice Gunner (Elizabeth Debicki) and Belle (Cynthia Erivo) shake hands to perform the last mission.

The four widows face not only burglars but also many of the secrets buried by husbands. Dramatic action scenes with many knots interspersed promise to attract and surprise the viewer to the last minute.

The return of Steve McQueen


Steve McQueen is one of the directors having impressive style in Hollywood. Using violent details, he has exposed the hidden corners of life on the big screen. Steve McQueen's films often make viewers have to torment and sympathy with the tragic fate of the characters.

As a result, he became the first black filmmaker to win an Oscar for “12 Years a Slave” (2013). The film also received two more golden statues for Best Supporting Actress and Best Adapted Screenplay of nine nominations.

The talent of Steve McQueen is reflected in many music videos as well as artworks. He received the Turner Prize - a prestigious British award for visual artists. In 2014, he was voted one of the 100 Most Inspirational People in the World by Time magazine.

Famous for his choice of script, Steve McQueen made three films throughout his career, including “Hunger” (2008), “Shame” (2011) and “12 Years a Slave”. They have won numerous awards and nominations such as the Oscars, BAFTA, the European Film Award, the Independent Spirits Awards, the British Endemic Film Awards, etc. After 12 Years a Slave, the male director has been absent from the widescreen for 5 years and just back to make "Widows".

Viola Davis: Hollywood actress is associated with detective films or action movies, dramas. Her strong acting style has been associated with the powerful "tycoon" image. Liam Neeson: Liam Neeson is a familiar name in the Taken movie series. He specializes in acting despite the old age. Michelle Rodriguez: Her name is associated with the role of Letty Ortiz in billion-dollar “Fast and Furious”. In addition, the South American actress also starred in action films such as “Resident Evil” (2002), “Avatar” (2009), “Battles: Los Angeles” (2011) and “SWAT” (2003).
