Here are the top 10 songs that are often played at funerals in the UK. According to a survey conducted by a company that provides funeral services, old tunes are no longer used at funerals, instead, familiar deep songs with meaning lyrics are being used a lot. Among them, the song "My Way" by Frank Sinatra is the most used songs at funerals in the UK.
According to a survey of Co-op Funeralcare for British people, the top 10 songs commonly used at funerals in this country are gradually changing when there are no old tunes that exist hundreds of years, instead of familiar songs with appropriate melodies and lyrics.
The last time this survey was done was in 2016, when there were classic songs such as "Abide With Me", "The Lord is My Shepherd" and "All Things Bright and Beautiful" included in the list.
But now, the British people gradually have songs that are closer to everyday life. Songs that appear on this year's survey list also include "Supermarket Flowers" by Ed Sheeran, or the familiar "You Raise Me Up" by Westlife.
The top three funeral songs this year have remained in the same spot since 2016. No.1 belongs to "My Way" by Frank Sinatra, followed by "Time to Say Goodbye" by Andrea Bocelli and Sarah Brightman, and "Somewhere over the Rainbow" by Eva Cassidy.
According to a survey by Co-op Funeralcare, more and more people know when they are about to die, they actively tell family members about the songs they want to turn on in their own funeral.
David Collingwood, the director of the company said: "We see people getting more and more open when they talk about death, their wishes before they die, about the things to tell around the funeral, so that everything is clearer among family members at a time of confusion when the moment is near.”
