Interesting revelations about the owners of Bugatti Chiron

Customers who spend $3 million on a Bugatti Chiron are special ones and have strong financial power.

Bugatti is one of the oldest automotive brands in the world's automotive industry. Although this brand suffered a hard time, it has grown since being owned by the Volkswagen Group. Bugatti entered a new history in January 2018 with the lead of new Chief Executive Officer Stephan Winkelmann, who had over a decade as CEO at Lamborghini. Previously, Bugatti was taken charge by the Audi Sport belonging to Audi.

In an interview with the prestigious journal Business Insider , at the New York International Auto Show in 2018, the new CEO of Bugatti shared how to create a supercar and the standards of customers owning Bugatti.


All of Bugatti Chiron cars have been ordered

Bugatti always innovates so that this brand does not fall behind. Since the company launched its latest supercar Chiron with a starting price of $ 3 million in 2016, roughly 500 Chiron cars were expected to be sold in the next 10 years. However, beyond the expectations, nearly 300 Chiron cars were sold in just two years.

"We are sold out until the second half of 2021. The cars will be easily sold out and we are going to get requests to build more — even if 500 is going to be the maximum," said Winkelmann.


Who pays $3 million for a car?

The most interested question in the interview was: Who would spend $3 million on a car? According to Winkelmann, the loyal customers of Bugatti are both outstanding financially and brilliant in the field they pursue.

"They are usually male, self-made men," said the German CEO. "Geographically, they are (generally) from North America, Europe, Middle East, and Japan." Typically, they often have a collection of about 30 super cars in their garage, even yachts and lots of real estate and private jet. These are people who are enjoying their life and they are clearly aware of reasons to buy a costly car.


According to Winkelmann, his clients are the ones who tend to succeed in business and have a great instinct to understand the value of what they buy. When you buy a Bugatti, you will own one of the quintessence of mechanical and speed with unique design. Chiron is a combination of timeless beauty and elegance encapsulated in a high-performance supercar.

Maximum speed is not a priority for Bugatti

For many people, the Bugatti is famous for its ultra-fast cars with a top speed over 260 mph . However, Bugatti says Chiron is not the fastest car in the world, simply because Bugatti does not know how fast the car can go and they are only limiting the car at 261 mph. The priority now is to provide the car owners with a variety of experiences including speed. However, 261 mph is still something crazy.


The experience from Lamborghini

There are very few CEO who have experience in luxury brands such as Winkelman. Working time at Lamborghini and Audi Sport has shown him that this is not a simple and easy business. Winkelman believes that the success of the luxury business is due to branding as well as their product. He found similarities between Bugatti and Lamborghini both in philosophy and heritage values.
