Beside Japan, many other places in the world also have beautiful cherry blossoms planted for those who love seeing them in spring.

9. PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA, USA 

At the Subaru Cherry Tree Festival of Greater Philadelphia (from April 7 to 15), held at Fairmount Park, visitors will see more than 1,000 cherry blossoms. Stop at Shofuso Japanese Garden and you will feel like you are in Rising Sun. The event is also an occasion to extend their gratitude for the historic gift that Pennsylvania received in 1926 from the Japanese government, cherry trees, to celebrate the 150th anniversary of American Independence Day.

10. JINHAE DISTRICT, CHANGWON CITY, GYEONGSANG PROVINCE, KOREA 

The largest cherry blossom festival in Korea is Jinhae Gunhangje in Jinhae District, Gyeongsang Province, just 4 hours by bus from Seoul. The picturesque Yeojwacheon bridge is one of the most beautiful places in Korea in the spring. You can also enjoy a variety of street food, from traditional dishes such as squid and Korean cakes to seasonal dishes such as cherry blossom sandwiches and cherry-shaped cakes. This year's festival will be held from April 1 to 10.

11. EDINBURGH, SCOTLAND 

Spring is also a great time to visit Edinburgh. In the capital of Edinburgh, you'll find cherry blossoms in places like the large park The Meadows Park or Princes Street Gardens near Edinburgh Castle.

12. BROOKLYN, NEW YORK, USA 

Brooklyn Botanic Gardens celebrates everything related to cherry blossoms with the name Sakura Matsuri (Cherry Blossom Festival). At this year's festival, which will take place from 28 to 29 April, there will be more than 60 activities and events for visitors, including live music and dance performances along with a tea ceremony.

13. SEATTLE, WASHINGTON, USA 

At the University of Washington, spring is the time when the campus is lit up by cherry trees. These cherry trees were a gift from Japan to Seattle in 1912. Later, the school received an additional 31 trees transplanted from the Washington Park Arboretum in the 1960s. The cherry blossoms of the school are now so famous that they even have their own Twitter account.

14. SHANGHAI, CHINA 

In this spring, students and residents around Tongji University will come to see the Shanghai campus with rows of cherry blossoms.

15. TAIPEI, TAIWAN 

In Taipei, Yangmingshan National Park is a breathtaking sight to see the blooming cherry trees. The mountainous countryside contains hot springs, sulfur reservoirs and hiking trails.

16. SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA, USA 

San Francisco has been hosting the Northern California Cherry Blossom Festival since 1968. This year, the festival will be held from April 14 to 22, including parades, street performances and art exhibitions on weekends.
