16 great places around the world to see cherry blossoms (Part I)
1. VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA, CANADA
With more than 130,000 cherry trees, it is no wonder that Vancouver hosts a cherry blossom festival every year. First held in 2005, the event includes a variety of fun activities such as the haiku contest, live music performances and a large-scale picnic at Queen Elizabeth Park. This year, cherry blossom festival will take place from April 3 to 29.
2. MACON, GEORGIA
The real capital of cherry blossoms of the world is actually Macon, Georgia, where streets are decorated by more than 300,000 cherry blossom trees. Macon will hold an international cherry blossom festival called "The Pinkest Party on Earth" from March 16 to 25 this year.
3. BONN, GERMANY
In Bonn, Germany, in every spring, you can stroll through the city's famous "tree tunnels" during the Altstadt Cherry Blossom Festival, which runs from April 1 to April 15.
4. JERTE VALLEY, SPAIN
In the second half of March, when reaching the valley of Jerte (Valle del Jerte) in the west of Extremadura, Spain, you will see 2 million like-snow blooming cherry blossom trees. Enjoy this wonderful phenomenon from March 17 to May 3 when the residents host a festival called Primavera y Cerezo en Flor (Spring and Flowers) with a variety of programs and events related to the flowers and the history of the valley.
5. ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI, USA
The Gateway Arch, the most famous symbol of city St. Louis, is surrounded by gorgeous cherry trees from mid-March to early April. Come here and explore the 5.6-hectare Japanese Garden at the Missouri Botanical Garden, in which several different types of cherry blossoms like Higan, Yoshino, and Centennial are planted.

About 10km to the south of Paris is Sceaux, the suburb possesses a beautiful scenery in spring, where blooming cherry blossoms make you relaxed.
7. THE CAPITAL OF VILNIUS, LITHUANIA
You can see the cherry blossoms in Vilnius in Chiune Sugihara Sakura Park from late April to early May. The park is named after the diplomat, the deputy Japanese consuls in Lithuania - Chiune Sugihara, who helped 6,000 Jews escape from Europe during World War II by granting them a transit visa into Japanese territory. The park was completed in 2001, marking the 100th anniversary of Sugihara's birthday and overlooking the Neris River.
