What is 100% Disk Usage?
There are many reasons for 100% Disk Usage making your computer very slow and lag. To check, open the Task Manager, and then look at Tab Disk in the Process, if you see 100% report as below 100%, you have encountered this trouble.
Fix the error in Troubleshooting
Encountering such phenomenon, you can go right to check in the Troubleshooting. Go to the Control Panel, select System and Security.
Here, click on the System Maintenance to test the system. Then click Next, select Try Troubleshooting as administrator and then wait for the system to perform and finish.
Disable Auto Maintenance
Maintenance function helps maintain the system. So when this feature is active, you might have 100% Disk problem. You can completely disable this feature by going to the Control Panel, go to Action Center. In the new window, select Settings as shown below.
Here, you will get some options of Maintenance mode. Choose the last option to overcome this situation.
Turn off automatically set up virtual Ram
Virtual Ram mode is one of the main reasons making 100% Disk Usage condition. You can turn this off by finding the System and Security section as above. Select Advanced system settings as shown below.
Next, select Settings.
Switch to the Advanced tab and then click Change to change the value of virtual RAM. Here, remove the tick in Automatically manage paging file size for all drives, select the partition you're installing for your Windows.
Tick on the Custom size below, here choose value for Initial size and Maximum size as 1/2 true value of your Ram. For example, with, 4GB Ram, choose 2048 MB.
Disable Super Fetch and Windows Search
First, press Windows + R to open Run window. Then type Services.msc, a new window will appear, where you can find Superfetch (you can press S to find faster), then double-click it and choose to hide, as shown below.
Also right in there, find Windows Search (press W to find), where you will also double click and select Disabled.
Turn off Windows SmartScreen
This is a security feature to help users avoid malicious applications while accessing the internet. But when you're using a secure anti-virus application, this feature will become redundant, and might be in risk of conflicting with the anti-virus application you are using.
To turn it off, first you go to Control Panel, find the Action Center, select Change Windows SmartScreen Settings.
In the new window, select Do not do anything (turn off Windows SmartScreen) and click OK to complete.

However, this feature should only be used when you use an HDD, it' sunnecessary for SSD.
Regularly updating Windows is also an effective method to keep the system stable and efficient.
