8 signs of protein deficiency in your body
If you always feel hungry and want to eat something, especially snacks, it can be due to protein, carbohydrate and sugar deficiency. Maybe the problem is that you eat too many foods that are high in calorie but have low protein content.
2. Muscular atrophy and joint pain
Muscle is the body's largest store of protein. Protein is essential for the development and maintenance of muscles. Muscle weakness, muscular atrophy and joint pain are a sign of protein deficiency. And they usually happen in the elderly.
3. Skin and nail problems
Protein deficiency can make your nails weak, crunchy and in some cases, you will see white lines and brown spots on the nails. Protein deficiency can also affect your skin, as proteins help to regenerate cells, create new cells and replace dead cells. If this happens, your skin will be dry, peeling and cracking.

Like muscle, low protein intake can affect the bones. Not enough protein leads to bone weakness, which increases the risk of fractures. This is mainly because protein is needed to absorb calcium and help with bone metabolism.
If you have trouble sleeping or insomnia, it may be due to protein deficiency in your body. Proteins from foods are the building blocks of tryptophan, an amino acid that causes drowsiness. So, we have to eat high protein foods before going to bed to get better sleep.
8. Brain fog
Brain fog is a vague feeling about something that you try to do, but you can not focus on it. The main cause is that your body do not have enough protein to support brain function. If you feel lack of motivation, poor memory or have trouble learning anything new, it's a sign that you are deficient in protein.
