Not only is garlic the popular ingredient in many dishes but it has incredible health benefits.

Garlic is often used in daily meals of each family. According to a study by the University of Maryland, a healthy adult can consume up to 4 cloves of garlic a day. With many natural medicinal ingredients, garlic can strengthen immune function and overall health.

According to Live Strong, every 100 grams of garlic will serve you with close to 150 calories, 33 grams of carbs, 6.36 grams of protein. Garlic is also enriched with Vitamin B1, B2, B3, B6, folate, Vitamin C, calcium, iron, magnesium, manganese, phosphorous, potassium, sodium and zinc.

Consuming garlic helps the body fight the common cold. According to a study published in the journal Advances In Therapy, supplementation with garlic daily provides more allicin, which reduces the risk of flu by up to 63 percent. This in particular can reduce the frequency of colds by more than 70%, as 5 days can be reduced to 1.5 days.

Eating garlic every day helps maintain a stable blood pressure level. The active elements in garlic have the same potential to lower blood pressure as other specialized drugs. An estimated 600 to 1,500 milligrams of garlic extract is as effective as Atenolol (commonly used by people with hypertension) in 24 weeks, according to an estimate published by the Pakistani Journal of Medicine. 

Cancer Prevention 

Several studies have indicated an association between daily consumption of garlic and prevention of stomach and colorectal cancers. It is said to strengthen the immunity of the body against cancer.
