What box office records does “Black Panther” make? (Part I)
Being the 18th work of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), the film which was set almost in Africa honors multiethnicity and features a black superhero. The cast of “Black Panther” is mostly black, under the direction of Ryan Coogler.
Black Panther once had an impressive premiere in Captain America: Civil War (2016). The separate film of T’Challa (played by Chadwick Boseman) has no opponent in the global box office only within last week. The movie has grossed about $ 387 million globally, about $ 235 million of which was earned only after four days of release. Before that, the studio forecasts a four-day holiday weekend of $218m in the US and Canada, and a global debut of $361m. Though the film’s international footprint doesn’t include several of the largest markets – China, Russia, Japan – it still ranks among the top 15 global debuts ever.
Superhero movie is rated highest
Black Panther is currently the highest rated Marvel Studios movie of all time (according to Rotten Tomatoes). With a 97/98% score on Rotten Tomatoes, this is now the most popular superhero blockbuster ever, which shares the success with the animated “super”work The Incredibles (97%). Audiences agreed, giving it an A-plus CinemaScore.
Superhero movie Black Panther is highest rated on Rotten Tomatoes.
High scores helped the blockbuster surpass Iron Man (94%), Logan (93%), Thor: Ragnarok and Spider-Man: Homecoming (92%). Although the ratings of Black Panther may fluctuate as the film is released worldwide, it is likely that the film will still hold the top spot over all other Marvel superhero movies.
“Black Panther” set box office records in the first day of release
Black Panther had a successful start in the premiere on Thursday (February 15) and earned $ 25.2 million at the North American box office. Not only did this achievement break the previous record of Deadpool with $ 12.7 million but also turned “Black Panther” one of the highest grossing movies ever released.
Black Panther has surpassed Captain America: Civil War ($ 25 million) to become the second-highest grossing movie in Marvel, behind Avengers: Age of Ultron ($ 27.6 million), and fourth highest among superhero movies, behind The Dark Knight Rises ($ 30.6 million) and Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice ($ 27.7 million).
The Marvel superhero movie has been the eighth highest-grossing film in the first day of release of all time up to now. In addition, Black Panther topped the Marvel all-time record for first-day gross.
