Prior to that, in 2016, Warner Bros., Village Roadshow and Iron Man actor’s Team Downey studio teamed up with a number of talented screenwriters to come up with ideas and create the content for Sherlock Holmes 3.
This team of screenwriters included Nicole Perlman (Guardians of the Galaxy), Justin Malen (Baywatch), Gary Whitta (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story), Geneva Dworet-Robertson (Tomb Raider) and Kieran Fizgerald (Snowden). However, then each of them was busy with different movie projects.
After the Iron Man blockbuster in 2008 opened the Marvel Cinema (MCU), it came as a surprise when Robert Downey Jr. played Detective Sherlock Holmes in director Guy Ritchie's film in 2009. Three years later, Sherlock Holmes 2 was released.

Over the past five years, information about Sherlock Holmes 3 has been featured on the press, but Robert Downey Jr.'s tight schedule is the reason why the movie project about the talented detective has not been carried out.
However, Robert Downey Jr.’s contract with Marvel is going to be expired after the two parts Avengers 3 & 4. Therefore, fans of Sherlock Holmes fans can expect the film will soon be produced.
