Official songs of FIFA World Cup 2018
The official song of the FIFA World Cup 2018 named Colors has been made public by American singer Jason Derulo who composed it. The song will be performed by Jason for the first time at the 2018 World Cup in Moscow on June 14.
"Through my years of travel, I've been able to see the beauty in our cultural differences and I wrote 'Colors' to celebrate that diversity and be a part of the amazing energy that sports fans around the world give to their teams," Jason shared the inspiration for the song Colors on Billboard.
"It's a tournament that celebrates athletic excellence and I'm honored to provide the soundtrack."
After the song's premiere, Derulo tweeted at Donald Trump, "We're all united in the fact that we're different" with the Haitian flag. The singer's parents hail from Haiti, one of the countries that the president infamously labeled a "shithole."
Colors is about cultural diversity and the link between people.
“Tasked with the tough job of making a track that appeals to sports fans from every corner of the globe, Derulo opts for the safe theme of unity and oneness which is bound to please Fifa chiefs. While the well-meaning lyrics, full of imagery of flag waving and pride in your team's colors, tend to fall on the cheesy side, there's no denying the chorus's catchy hook,” Thesun also gave some comments on the song.
Jason Derulo born in 1989, is an American singer, songwriter and dancer. He was originally a talented producer who helped big names such as Diddy, Danity Kane, Donnie Klang, Sean Kingston, Cassie and Lil Mama succeed.
Beside Colors, the host country also announced the other official song called Team 2018 (Команда 2018) performed by two singers Polina Gagarina and Egor Krid in the biggest football festival of the world.
Team 2018 will be performed by Polina Gagarina. She used to be the representative of Russia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 and won the Runners-up.
Since its upload on youtube, people have appreciated and liked the effort put by them to create it. In addition to that, it has also faced criticism due to the language. Some people commented that a FIFA song should be the one which can be easily understood and sung by them, but this time it's totally the reverse of it. The team is entirely in Russian, and therefore, can only be understood if you know the language. Till now, it has crossed 4.5 million views with positive feedbacks.
FIFA World Cup 2018 will take place in Russia from June 14th to July 15th. This is the first time the tournament has been held in an Eastern European country and in the former Soviet Union throughout its history.
