Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt to co-star in Quentin Tarantino’s new movie

The two top Hollywood stars will be featured in Quentin Tarantino’s 9th blockbuster movie, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

After Leonardo DiCaprio, the 54-year-old filmmaker confirmed that he has successfully recruited Brad Pitt for his next movie project, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

As what Quentin Tarantino himself described, this is “a story that takes place in Los Angeles in 1969, at the height of hippy Hollywood.”

The two lead characters are Rick Dalton (Leonardo DiCaprio), former star of a western TV series, and his longtime stunt double Cliff Booth (Brad Pitt). Therefore audience can expect a lot of scenes featuring both DiCaprio and Pitt in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

"Both are struggling to make it in a Hollywood they don’t recognize anymore. But Rick has a very famous next-door neighbor … Sharon Tate.” he added.

Quentin Tarantino has not revealed who will play the ill-fated star Sharon Tate. Some sources previously supposed that the filmmaker wanted to target Jennifer Lawrence or Margot Robbie for the role.

“I’ve been working on this script for five years,” stated Tarantino, “as well as living in Los Angeles County most of my life, including in 1969, when I was seven years old. I’m very excited to tell this story of an LA and a Hollywood that don’t exist anymore. And I couldn’t be happier about the dynamic teaming of DiCaprio & Pitt as Rick & Cliff.”

In the past, Quentin Tarantino worked with Brad Pitt at Inglourious Basterds ($321 million worldwide) in 2008, and Leonardo DiCaprio at Django Unchained ($425 million worldwide) in 2012. Both movies received much praise from the audience and critics as well as won many Oscars in the year of release.

To turn a profit, the movie will need to gross at least $300 million worldwide. Both “Django Unchained” and “Inglourious Basterds” crossed that threshold.

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is set to hit theaters on August 9, 2019, 50 years after the gang members of Mason Family murdered Sharon Tate. The movie was released by Sony, marking the first collaboration between Quentin Tarantino and the studio. Tarantino's previous film work was originally released by The Weinstein Company. However, after the sex scandal of producer Harvey Weinstein, he decided to end their longtime work relationship, and even publicly condemn the " big boss" in the press.
