Legendary band ABBA reunites after 35 years
One of the most famous bands of all time, ABBA, recently surprised and delighted global fans by revealing the group is preparing to return after 35 years of disbandment.
ABBA has returned to the recording studio and finished their record for new music after more than three decades away from the stage, according to Swedish evening newspaper Aftonbladet.
The ABBA in the 1970s when they still stood in the same stage.
The disbandment of ABBA in 1982 really shocked the music lovers and the media at that time. It was widely believed that there were irreconcilable disagreements among the group members. After more than 35 years since the disbandment, four members said they were happy to see each other again and enter the studio together.
“We all four felt that, after some 35 years, it could be fun to join forces again and go into the recording studio. So we did,” the group said in a statement after repeatedly vowing they would never reunite.
The new songs “I Still Have Faith In You” and “Don’t Shut Me Down” were recorded last summer, the band’s manager Gorel Hanser told TT news agency.
“It was like time had stood still and that we only had been away on a short holiday. An extremely joyful experience!” members Agnetha Faltskog, Bjorn Ulvaeus, Anni-Frid Lyngstad and Benny Andersson added.
“I think it’s going to sound pretty much like their last songs from 1982, with quite a mild tempo, not like ‘Voulez-Vous’ or ‘Gimme Gimme Gimme’,” Carl Magnus Palm, who has written several books about the group, told AFP.
“Frida’s and Agnetha’s voices are the same, so it won’t be a huge difference,” he added.
ABBA have already recorded their new songs.
ABBA was founded in 1972 with members of two music-loving couples. The group is one of the most famous and highest-selling bands of all time with over 500 million singles sold.
In 1979, two members, Björn Ulvaeus and Agnetha Fältskog, announced their divorce in the glory of their career. This has had a negative impact on ABBA's performances.
Then, in 1981, the couple of Benny Anderson and Anni-Frid Lyngstad broke up after years together. As a result, in 1982, the band decided to disband.
Happy New Year was launched in 1980, with lyrics full of painful emotion and sadness. Happy New Year is considered to be the song "living forever with time", and has become the most famous song in ABBA's career.
