Hollywood actress Helen Mirren may return to Fast & Furious franchise
In the Fast & Furious 8 launched in April 2017, the audience saw character Magdelene Shaw played by Helen Mirren for the first time. This is the mysterious but powerful mother of the two brothers Deckard (Jason Statham) and Owen Shaw (Luke Evans).
Before Fast & Furious 8 started filming, the 72-year-old star of the fog had repeatedly publicized his desire to join the series. And finally, Vin Diesel agreed with the want of the Oscar-winning actress for Best Lead Actress (The Queen- 2006).
Helen Mirren expressed her desire to be back in Fast & Furious 9 and have the opportunity to sit behind the steering wheel to drive. Picture: Universal.
In a recent conversation with Yahoo! Movies, Helen Mirren said she most certainly wanted to come back for the next entry (2020). “I hope so. I’m sort of quietly maneuvering. But I love it, it would be brilliant. I love that character.” Magdalene didn’t get much action last time, but Mirren insists she must get behind the wheel for the next entry. “This time, definitely. Absolutely. Essential, instead of being stuck in [the back seat].”
In Fast & Furious 8, Helen Mirren did not get much to do though she was impressed by the humorous scene with Jason Statham as Deckard Shaw's son. The actress also expects to get behind the wheel in the 9th episode, just like what she did in the Top Gear reality show.
Helen Mirren are still beautiful at the age of 72.
Mirren was a lot of fun during her appearance in Fate, so her return is a must. It will be interesting to see what side of the law she falls on however. Magdalene is the mother of Owen and Deckard Shaw, the villains of parts six and seven respectively. Deckard (Jason Statham) is responsible for the death of Han, but the character seemingly redeemed himself in Fate when he rescued Dom’s baby and helped the gang bring down villain Cipher (Charlize Theron). Owen also helped with the rescue, but it would be strange if the two clans just forgot their past differences and became friends.
The Fast & Furious 9 was originally scheduled to hit theaters in 2019, but it was postponed to 2020. The reason is that Universal wanted to make an interquel around two other beloved characters, Luke Hobbs played by Dwayne “The Rock "Johnson and Deckard Shaw by Jason Statham.
Fast & Furious 9's director is likely to be Justin Lin. It is Lin who is behind such movies as Tokyo Drift (2006), Fast & Furious 4 (2009), Fast Five (2011), Fast & Furious 6 (2012).
