'Fifty Shades Freed' and other 3 movies disappoint viewers in early 2018
Here are 4 movies that are highly praised but not as expected in the beginning of 2018.
“Tomb Raider” is a remake of the classic game of the same name of Crystal Dynamics. The story of Lara Croft is played by talented actress Alicia Vikander - the sole heir of Croft Holdings after her father was missing seven years ago. By chance, Lara discovers her father, Richard Croft is an archaeologist with many mysterious studies and she has decided to follow the clues left by her father to fulfill his final wish.
Shortly after the release of the film Tomb Raider, the movie immediately received attention from movie audiences around the world. People want to see what the new version of Lara Croft will look like, and how the film will be redone. However, the higher expectations are, the more disappointed viewers are. Except that Alicia Vikander's indomitable performance is the only bright spot, the script is too bad. Most of the time the film focuses on re-enacting Lara's survival on the island of Yamatai while the challenges of "brainwashing" are too faded.
A Wrinkle in Time
Adapted from the classic science fiction novel by writer L'Eleeleine L'Engle, first published in 1963, movie “A Wrinkle In Time” will lead the audiences to an interesting adventure that you will feel nothing is impossible.
The story opens with the disappearance of Dr. Alex Murry as he discovers a way to travel from one world to another. Then, in order to rescue their missing father, two sisters Meg Murry (Storm Reid) and Charles (Deric McCabe) with their friend Calvin (Levi Miller) have to overcome a difficult journey. Three children go through three worlds and meet strange creatures that humans have never knew.
The script is interesting but unfortunately, “A Wrinkle in Time” is poor at editing stage when a few good ideas from the original are removed. In addition, the acting of stars is not enough to convince the audiences.
The Cloverfield Paradox
As the third part of “Cloverfield” brand, "The Cloverfield Paradox" can’t overcome the shadow of two predecessors in spite of inherited many advantages. If the second part receives a lot of praises from the film community for owning a unique script, the third part is considered a movie not so bad but the quality is average.
There are big mistakes in “The Cloverfield Paradox”. Character line isn’t exploited evenly when the emphasis is put on the personality of female astronaut Ava Hamilton (Gugu Mbatha-Raw) and forgets to portray talent or other characters.
Fifty Shades Freed
“Fifty Shades” is based on the three-part novel by English author E. James. After the first two commercially successful parts, “Fifty Shades Freed” also received a lot of attention from the public and the media. The film begins with the beautiful wedding of the love couple - Anastasia Steele and Christian Gray make everyone desire. But the bad acting of the two main stars is not enough to convince the audiences. A bad script is what people are saying after watching the finale of “Fifty Shades” series.
